SolveSim is a practice platform for the Solve Game. To do its job — grade your runs, show you how you’re improving, and calibrate the simulator against real outcomes — we record a lot about how you play. This page explains exactly what, why, how long, and what control you have over it.
TL;DR. We keep the data from your simulator runs so we can score you and build benchmarks. We don’t sell it. You can see it, export it, or delete your account at any time from Settings.
1. Who we are
“SolveSim” refers to the service at solvesim.com, operated by SolveSim Ltd. For privacy questions, contact privacy@solvesim.com.
2. What we collect
We collect four categories of data:
Profile data
- Name, email, hashed password
- Plan (Diagnostic / Ops / Squadron), billing status
- Time zone, language preference
Simulator telemetry
- Every decision you make inside a simulator (chosen option, time-to-decide)
- Full timeline of each run: start/end, phase transitions, pauses
- Score, accuracy, percentile, skill-decomposition breakdown
- Optional: session replay — an anonymized click/keystroke trace we use to review how decisions get made
This is the core of the service. Without this, we cannot grade you or show you any analytics.
Device & technical data
- IP address (truncated), browser, OS, device class
- Performance metrics (page performance, error traces) so we can keep the sim fast and reliable
Analytics & marketing (optional)
- Pages you visit on the marketing site, time-on-page, scroll depth
- Referral source (how you found us)
- Campaign attribution
These categories are OFF by default. You opt in via the cookie banner or Preferences.
3. How we use it
- Run the service. Grade your sessions, show your analytics, handle billing via Stripe, send transactional email via Resend.
- Improve the simulator. We use aggregated telemetry to calibrate scoring curves, tune phase difficulty, and identify where users get stuck.
- Cohort benchmarks & research. We publish anonymized, aggregated insights (e.g., “Average Sea Wolf score, cohort 2026”). Your individual data is never identifiable in these.
- Security & fraud. Detect scraping, abuse, and Stripe chargeback defense.
- Marketing — only with consent. Email product updates if you opt in.
4. Legal basis (GDPR)
- Contract — running the simulator, billing, account management.
- Legitimate interest — security, fraud prevention, aggregated calibration research.
- Consent — analytics cookies, marketing email, optional session replay.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data — as long as your account exists.
- Simulator sessions — 24 months at full fidelity; then anonymized and rolled up into aggregate benchmarks.
- Analytics events — 14 months.
- Billing records — 7 years, as required for tax compliance.
- Support emails — 24 months after the last reply.
When you delete your account, we immediately remove profile data and de-link telemetry. Aggregated benchmarks that no longer identify you remain in our research set.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA), you can:
- Access — see everything we have on you.
- Export — download your data as CSV/JSON.
- Correct — fix inaccurate profile data from Settings.
- Delete — erase your account and associated data.
- Object — opt out of analytics and marketing anytime via the Preferences link in the footer.
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data-protection authority.
Access, export, and delete controls live in Settings → Data & privacy. For anything else, email privacy@solvesim.com.
9. Children
SolveSim isn’t for anyone under 16. If you’re a parent and believe a child created an account, email us and we’ll remove it.
10. International transfers
Some of our processors are based in the United States. When data moves outside the EU/UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and our processors’ DPAs to protect it.
11. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when our data practices change. If the change is significant, we’ll email active members and ask you to re-consent.
